Stone loves walking with clients through both the good times and the bad. He prides himself on his ability to help clients think outside of the box when considering how the past connects to the present in pursuit of restoration. Stone is well-versed in athletics, being a former collegiate football player. As a result, he knows firsthand how difficult it can be to know who you are when life forces you to change, and how quickly your identity can feel lost. He is skilled at helping clients work towards better self-understanding, primarily working with clients who feel “stuck”, are experiencing significant life transitions, suffer from anxiety or depression, or believe that life should be better than it is right now.  I'm not sure what prompted your search for a therapist, but I'm so glad you're here. The truth is, therapy can be daunting. Feeling scared, skeptical, or uncertain as you seek change is normal, but I wholeheartedly believe we are not meant to struggle in isolation. Humans are neurobiologically wired for connection, but unfortunately, mental and emotional health struggles too often hinder us from knowing ourselves and others. I am here to help you see that healing is possible and that you don’t have to do it alone.

In my practice, I hold a safe and accepting space for you to process and explore your unique story shaped by joy, pain, cultural context, and family background. I seek to collaboratively and empathetically walk alongside you by utilizing various therapy practices that are evidence and strengths based. We’ll partner together to develop new tools and resources that will help you find healing and empowerment.

I am passionate about working with children, individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life. Having experienced my own pain and sitting with others in theirs, I am here to help with depression, anxiety, grief, family and relational dynamics, faith/spirituality, church experiences, divorce, identity questions, and other personal and relational challenges.

Through our work together in consistent conversation, I am confident that the changes you want to make will feel within reach. My goal is to help you discover that you are well-built and well-equipped to find healing. I can’t wait to meet all of who you are and get started on this meaningful journey.

Our life journey may take us to places and stages that issue challenges we might find overwhelming and expose us to painful experiences that leave us with deep scars and lingering hurt. Facing feelings of frustration, pain, or a lack of direction, we might have a hard time accessing our inherent resources and finding hope for the future. Utilizing compassion and curiosity, authenticity and directness, Daniel's goal is to provide a safe space that allow his clients to explore the roots and patterns of their pain and create a roadmap together that leads them to sustainable positive change and a renewed sense of peace.

In his therapeutic work with adult individuals and couples, he is passionate about coming alongside people when they find themselves in need of addressing past trauma, relationship difficulties, performance-related stress, anxiety, depression, and issues around identity and life transitions.

Having grown up in Europe and lived in multiple cultures, Daniel has had the privilege of applying his expertise in psychology and marital and family therapy in a variety of contexts. From empowering individuals exploring their potentials, to enhancing the performance of groups in faith-based and corporate settings, to teaching the next generation of mental health professionals, he is thankful for the opportunity to support others as they pursue their goals.

Seeking therapy is a courageous step. It is not uncommon to have parts of your story that have never been spoken aloud. Often shame or fear prevents us from exploring our past. Consequently, when parts of our story are kept hidden, they become more problematic.

It is through a safe, confidential, and therapeutic relationship that clients are empowered to own all parts of their life story. As a result, those parts of our stories that wounded us lose their power over us; what used to cause us to feel weak, now makes us strong. Whether it is a desire to change, heal, or grow, Joanne considers it an honor to join clients in sifting through their life stories.

Joanne works through an attachment based, trauma informed framework, specifically through the clinical model of Restoration Therapy. Joanne offers a safe space for clients to come as they are and receive acceptance without judgement so that they can make sense of their life experience. The result of this is a deeper understanding of oneself, that yields wisdom and healing. Often the outcome is restored love and trust in the very relationships that present challenges.

Joanne works with clients who struggle with unresolved emotional injury, self-worth, trauma, relational problems, anxiety, intergenerational issues, women’s issues, and spiritual issues.

Joanne and her husband, Garrick, moved to San Diego in 2006. They have been married since 1990 and have three adult children that they adore.
